Finally Finished Something...

I was beginning to wonder if I would ever be able to finish anything with everything going on!  FINALLY got one of the original quilts I started on my frame prior to the upheaval of my quilt studio when all the water damage was discovered in the studio's walls.  Here's the first quilt, bound and ready for it's recipient:

In fact, this same quilt was on the frame when the damage was discovered and the frame got put 'under wraps':

See the red barn block on the pole under the plastic...

And because of all the damage, the hubs has agreed to FINALLY build a new building to house my quilting and sewing, w/heated garage on the lower level for the guys to wax trucks and other equipment in the cold weather months - so it's a win/win for both of us.  (He agreed to this 5 years ago then kept changing his mind, and that's when I set everything up in our garage over the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year's holidays.  No sooner had I finished my 3 month's worth of work than ALL the water damage was discovered in the walls of the quilting studio.)  Here's the progress so far - breaking ground for the new building:

Front view - where shrubs and landscaping used to be before they took it ALL out yesterday.  It never ceases to amaze me how much guys enjoy using big heavy equipment to 'rip out' whatever is in their path!  Wish I'd thought to take pictures, but I was sooo busy keeping my golden bears (retrievers) out of the way, didn't think of it until later.

Side view from the house

My second level studio will overlook the pond, which I adore because of all the wildlife that enjoy visiting throughout the day.  I'll keep you posted on our progress.  For now, got to get back to moving more stuff and figuring out how to store and organize everything during the building phase for the next 2 months.  I keep telling myself I will see a finish to this and it will ALL be good and I will FINALLY get to make and complete some quilts and other projects ;-)

Well...That Didn't Last Long!

No sooner did I post (and brag) about being back in the Quilting Saddle than I was given about 5 minutes to move/relocate my ENTIRE quilting/sewing studio due to severe water damage in the walls of said studio!  Needless to say, not only did I go into panic mode, but I was totally ticked, to put it mildly, that I had just spent almost 3 full months during the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year's holidays sorting and organizing and moving EVERYTHING in my studio so I could start the New Year off right - Finally, being completely organized and ready to quilt...NOT!  Now, everything is piled up in piles throughout my entire house.  Check these out:

My newly re-decorated kitchen w/quilting studio stuff

My TV room...

The Hub's TV room (I did eventually move the dining room chairs out from in front of the big screen after making him suffer for a few hours ;-)

and finally - the master bedroom!

This is the very LAST time I allow the hubs to manage a construction project.  While he is a terrific farmer, home renovation projects are just not his forte, obviously ;-)  Since I finally got word from the contractors they won't be finished for at least 3 more weeks, I opted to set up my machine quilting frame where the dining room table sits, especially since I don't believe I will be cooking those large family dinners anytime in the near future (just ask me how I know?!)

UPDATE:  make that 3 more MONTHS!  We'll be lucky if everything is finished by July 1, 2012...sigh...

UPDATE Part II:  It is October 1, 2012, and STILL NOT DONE!  New projected completion date is now November 1, 2012 - we'll keep our fingers and toes crossed ;-)

UPDATE Part III:  It is now November 6, 2012, and STILL NOT DONE and I now have NO idea of when it might be.  I'll let you know if/when this quilting studio is ever finished...and the saga continues...

UPDATE Part IV:  March 11, 2013, FINALLY starting to make some serious progress!

UPDATE Part V: April 3, 2013 - Betty in her New Diggs!

And, she fits in there just fine:

In fact, I may just leave her here for awhile ;-)

Wonder if the family will figure out we may not be having Easter dinner at our house this year - can anyone say, Reservations Please!

Well, as I always say - time to get back to it...;-)
