Good Fortune! - Clue #3

Lots of personal family 'things' to take care of prior to getting to Clue #3, but was able to finish up just this Wednesday Morning ;-)

Good Fortune! Clue #3

Chain piecing works wonders while trying to get these units finished up in a hurry!

Chain piecing the green/neutral half-Chevrons

And the Bonus HSTs:

Half-square triangles/HSTs - notice the Christmas trees ;-)

Trimming creates these units, after carefully stitching - it's a beautiful thing!

All ready to trim, creating those 'Bonus HSTs'

Clue #3 is trimmed/pressed and all carefully put away, along w/previous clues, until Bonnie's BIG Reveal!

Clues #1, 2 & 3
Back to Holiday organizing...

Clue #2 - Love the Blue ;-)

And we're off to Clue #2 of the Good Fortune! Mystery - which includes LOTS of Blues...love it!

My 'blue' choices are wide and varied, including at least one Holiday selection, in honor of this Holiday season:

Clue #2 of the Bonnie Hunter Mystery - Good Fortune!

Sewing these HSTs together in chain formation was Fast & FUN!  My idea of a good sewing session:

Chain sewing the HST units 'my way' ;-)

ALL the HST units have now been sewn together and pressed, just need to finish cutting them.  Stopped for a bit to work on a special Christmas quilt on honor and Memory of Stan Lee/Marvel:

Prior to Clue #2 being released on Friday, my baby brother, Monty passed away suddenly, after secondary complications from emergency abdominal surgery on the previous Tuesday...We will miss him dearly.

My baby bro, Monty - pictured w/family members on a recent trip

Our family will celebrate my brother, Monty's life and spread his ashes at 4:20 pm, per his request, this upcoming Saturday.  This quilter did NOT know/understand the significance of the "4:20 pm" designation - just goes to show, you can learn something at anytime in one's life.  I'm sure he's getting a chuckle out of his final request, I know I did ;-)

UPDATE:  I've decided this Good Fortune! Mystery quilt will be a Tribute quilt to my baby brother, Monty...Back to cutting!

ALL cut/pressed & trimmed:

And the Marvel quilt top is complete and ready to quilt:

Got a bit of a late start on this year's Good Fortune! Mystery.  Had to work on our washer after it decided to leak water ALL over our hardwood, while trying to wash Thanksgiving linens!  After 6 hours on Friday and an additional 2 on Saturday, got it back to running in time to finish all the backlog of laundry and get started on this mystery.  Got some cutting in while the first load was washing.  What a Welcome sight - a properly working machine!

And now, for Clue #1!  First we cut and start to sew:

Starting to sew our cut strips

Strips sewn and cut into 2-patches - ALL ready to be sewn into 4-patches!

2-patches ready to be sewn into 4-patches

...and Done!

4-patches complete for Clue #1
Clue #1 stored, ready & waiting to be called up and added to our Good Fortune Mystery Quilt!

Clue #1 safely stored away for 'later'

Alrighty then - time to get back to sewing our family's Christmas Surprise quilts!

Hope you and yours had a Wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday ;-)

Borders, Binding, Mysteries, and...it's complicated ;-)

Working on multiple projects ALL at the same time - do you ever do this?  It can get confusing IF one does not keep things organized!

Luckily, we have that under control, at least for the time being ;-)

First, added borders to our Doris's 100th Quilt of Valor quilt top - all ready to be quilted in time for our 2018 Veteran's Day Celebrations!

Doris's 100th QOV gets ALL bordered out - ready for quilting!

Like to sew these borders on in 'marathon-style':

Sewing on the last side border

And then there was the binding of 'another' QOV:

Attaching binding
Top-stitching the binding in place w/decorative stitch & thread

We like to use a decorative stitch for attaching the front of the binding w/matching machine quilting thread for a nice, secure touch:

Our favorite machine stitch to use is this applique pen-stitch - finishes out securely and beautifully

And then there was the quick organizing that needed to be done, (actually not so quick - took almost two days but, at least it's done!)

1 tub down - Only three more to go for Fall Cleaning/Organizing!
Just in time to try and get caught up on one of our latest Patriotic Mysteries by Lisa Sutherland of www.QuiltJubilee.com

Clue #2 of one of our latest Patriotic Mysteries in the works:

Will need to go back and finish Clue #1 over the weekend!

In the meantime, need to finish binding this beauty:

Quilted w/Becker's Shooting Star quilt design w/#5088 Fantastico Grain Acres - ALL ready for binding!
