Quilting and Me...

Quilting and Me...

I discovered sewing and quilting at the ripe old age of 6 while learning how to sew on my Grandmother’s Singer treadle. I made my very first quilt when I was 8 years old for my Barbie’s camper out of leisure suit left-overs, (Barbie & Ken were going on their first weekend rendezvous’ and needed a ‘cover’ ;-).

I sewed all the way through junior high and High School, making many of my clothes, including full-length gowns for chorus performances. After marrying and during all four pregnancies, I made most of my maternity clothing and baby clothes, stretch pants and prom dresses, Cabbage Patch doll clothes and doll quilts.

While my children were growing, quilting was a natural part of that nurturing environment and one that continues today. Quilting is my ‘stress buster’ and central to my family’s universe. I could never imagine a life without a quilt ‘cover’, and I hope I never have to!
