It's here, it's Here,
IT'S HERE! Clue #1 of the
Allietare Mystery has been released by our favorite
Bonnie! After going over the nitty gritty, I decided that Yes, indeed - this will work! I think I can...
|
Clue #1 of the Second of Two Allietares is sewn/pressed and ready for dog ear trimming |
Yep, I decided that I can create not one but two (2)
Allietare Mystery Quilts during the Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year's holidays...
Oh why not?!?
Here's the first one w/Clue #1:
|
Clue #1 of Allietare Mystery Quilt #1 - sewn/pressed/trimmed |
Chain piecing the
Magic 8 units:
|
Magic 8 units getting sewn together w/chain piecing |
Magic 8 units complete - time for cutting:
|
Sewn and ready for cutting |
First unit cut:
|
Magic 8 unit cut into eight HSTs -
this 'spinning' cutting board makes FAST work of cutting out the HSTs! |
And here we go:
|
One Magic 8 unit turns into 8 HSTs |
Several Magic 8 units turn into hundreds of HSTs...literally:
|
Several Magic 8 units cut, several to go |
And the final result:
|
Two sets of HSTs for two Allietare Mystery Quilts |
I kept the light/white backgrounds the same for BOTH Allietares, but to keep things organized, I changed the gray constant fabrics - one is darker than the other. We'll see how these choices play out as each clue is released, won't we?
|
Clue #1 from both Allietare Mystery Quilts - one set has had the dog ears trimmed off, the other is ready and waiting ;-) |
So what do I need TWO
Allietare Mystery Quilts for anyway? One is for yours truly - since I typically make my mystery quilts for others, this will be one of the first ones I will actually keep for me! The other will be a
2016 fundraiser for our
East Central IL QOV Group...how neat is that?

Clue #4 of the Holiday Mystery Quilt - Allietare
Clue #5 of the Allietare Mystery Quilt
That looks like a REALLY good way to make a bunch of HSTs!!
ReplyDeleteIt is for me - Love it! Used it on a couple of Bonnie's Mysteries and now, have NO fear of HSTs!
DeleteThanks for stopping by ;-)
~Deb
You are ambitious! I thought of trying two, but knew I'd never get anything else done. :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't for about a day and a half. I'm also working on a Quilt of Valor Mystery that started a week prior...Fun, FUN! All caught up for now, time to get back to wrapping presents!
DeleteSew ON!
~Deb
I'd never try to do two of the same mystery while it's still a mystery. I have a hard enough time keeping up with one. I don't know exactly where you live but east central Illinois tells me I grew up in your neck of the woods - Mattoon. The reason I get behind on the mystery is because I spend time Christmas in Mattoon with my elderly parents.

This is my first attempt at doing two of Bonnie's Mysteries - however, I'm highly motivated since the second one will be used as a Quilt of Valor fundraiser in 2016 ;-)
DeleteYes indeed - you will be in my neck of the woods over the Christmas Holidays. Miss Betty & I reside on a working farm south of I-70.
Enjoy your Holidays w/Family,
~Deb
They look great!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Andee! Yours do, too!!
DeleteHappy Quilting,
~Deb
Double the challenge, double the fun!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed - it certainly has been so far!
DeleteHappy Quilting!
~Deb
Love your swirly fabric..and wallpaper! I'm doing 2 as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks! LOL - was confused when you mentioned 'wallpaper'? Then I remembered I took the photo of my HSTs right after pressing...that's my ironing board cover...I LOVE Happy color ;-)
DeleteHappy Sewing on your '2' as well!
~Deb
WHEW! Two? What ambition! GOOD LUCK!! And Happy Quilting!
ReplyDeleteThank YOU - I'm sure I'm going to need some serious 'luck' as the Christmas Holidays get closer ;-) But the second one is for a good cause, it will be used to raise funds in the New Year to help create and Award Veterans with Quilts of Valor.
