Part III of the Orca Bay Mystery Quilt - Off and Running...

OK, so after a short stint in the recovery chair w/sniffles ALL day Friday (when of course the new clues to the Orca Bay Mystery quilt are posted), finally started to feel better late last night and I sooo appreciated all the Well wishes from Celia and Helen from the UK ;-)

So today is a brand-new day and I've finally been clear-headed enough this afternoon to make some headway on Part III - got ALL my 2" and 3 3/8" strips/blocks cut and am ready to sew:

And lots and lots of strips left for a nice future string quilt or two:

Sewing the 2" and 3 3/8" strips together - almost half done and ready to cut down to the finished 3 3/8" size:

And so I'm off to the sewing machine to finish up - I'll keep you posted...

  1. Glad you're feeling a bit better and ready to tackle the sewing again! I've been making HSTs with the Easy Angle - cut a few, sew a few, press a few, repeat! I should be able to post a piccie tomorrow :)

  2. Sounds great! Thanks for the well wishes ;-) Looking forward to seeing your pics of Part III. I sometimes wish I could 'graze sew', but I've learned over the years it's just not for me and have re-learned it recently with this Mystery Quilt.

I'm a power cutter/presser/sewer - I like to cut everything All at once (especially since I really, really don't like cutting), sew everything ALL at once, press everything ALL at once and trim everything ALL at once, (I shop the same way - buy everything in bulk, the hubs is a grazer, go figure?!).

I tried doing the cut a little/sew a little/press a little/trim a little with Part I and the QSTs, and it doesn't work for me - probably why I only have half of them done to date. I will have to force myself to go back and finish (and I will, just not looking forward to it). In fact, I've been searching for a strip piecing method I can utilize for the QSTs, so if anyone has a good one PLEASE let me know asap...Thanks!
